The oldest climbing kiln was rebuilt and open to the public at the home village of Tanba-Yaki on November 21, 2015. It is 47 meter long with 9 firing chambers which need 4 days to complete firing. The kiln is called as “Snake Kiln because it has lower height in comparison with the normal climbing kiln and it looks like a snake crawling along the hill.
Our expectation to see interesting pottery, especially sake cups fired in the kiln is extremely high.

Japanese enjoy fireworks all over the country in the Summer to the early fall. My hometown, Konosu had the fireworks at a flood plain along the Arakawa river a couple of weeks ago. The place is fortunately wide enough to display a biggest fireworks because it is the widest plain in Japan. So we could enjoy the biggest fireworks of 4 feet(or 1.3 meter dia.),which has been certified as the Guinness World Records.

Spring and fall are the most popular seasons for the pottery & porcelain exhibitions in Japan. However, the two big exhibitions are held in the early summer, which are ones in Sendai (Tohoku) and in Ebetsu(Hokkaido). We can enjoy national-wide pottery & porcelain ware at one spot, which is quite interesting experience.
About 130 potters in the “3rd National Yakimo (ware) Fair in Miyagi (Sendai)” and 330 potters in the“25th Ebetsu Yakimono (ware) Ichi (Fair)” displayed and sold their interesting works respectively.
